22 to 1 Tom's International Tips

7f (July) bet365 Superlative Stakes (Group 2) (Class 1) (2yo) Newmarket Track rated: Good to Firm.

4 – Draw 3 - Maseketa – won his first race at Goodwood against horses who have run but none have won, yet. In the listed race at Royal Ascot, he ran 5th. He was in the race until 2 furlongs out and lost position then did nothing to go on. Facing better horses, he needed this race. His dams' offspring have won at distances from 7 furlongs to 1 ¼ miles. I think with a better run, he has a good chance here.

9 – Draw 7- Private Signal – has run 2 very good races. He lost Austrian Theory in his first start by a neck. They were the only 2 runs in the race. He won his next start, as the favorite, he won making the front at the start and never looked back. James Doyle has the mount this time with the previous jockey taking another Charlie Appleby horse. I think he's had 2 good runs and got a lot out of the first start.

3 – Draw 8 - Great Max – good third at Royal Ascot last out. He was in the rear until 2 furlongs out and stayed on the inside in the final furlong. Useful race. I don't think he can win but placing is my thought.

6f (July) Darley July Cup Stakes (Group 1) (British Champions Series) (Class 1) (3yo+) Newmarket – Best race of the weekend

10 – Draw 4 - Starman – was scratched at Royal Ascot because of the soft ground. Now he gets a good to firm going. His only run on a soft surface was a disaster finishing 14th. That's his only lost. All his runs are at 6 furlongs, and he is the one to beat.

4 – Draw 12 - Extravagant Kid – ran much better than I thought he would last time out at Royal Ascot and moved well until the end and could maintain. For me, that's ok, he appears to need a race after winning in Dubai. He been getting better with age and Brendan Welsh trainee has him with his second start in the UK. Frankie Dettori retains the mount and all he needs is a good run for a chance.

6 – Draw 14 - Glen Shiel – I liked him last time out when he finished second to Dream of Dreams. He was headed with 2 furlongs to go but kept going and was no match for the winner. He is a group 1 winner and may like the footing here vs the soft to heavy he's run on in the past. They have raced him at longer distances in the past, but 6 furlongs record is 8 runs, 4 wins and 3 places.

7f (7f1y) Homeserve Back On Track City Plate Stakes (Listed Race) (Class 1) (3yo+) Chester. Track rated: Soft.

9 – Draw 3 - Rhoscolyn – will be the favorite here. Won his last three races in the handicap level and now takes a step up. He had wind surgery in February with his first race on the all-weather at Wolverhampton which not his favorite surface and finished last. At that a second Lingfield (all-weather) and then his wins. A 3-year-old, so the weight still favors. He's best running is at 7 furlongs and has won on soft going.

6 – Draw 4 - Safe Voyage – drops from group races to this listed race. He's run to stinkers this year at Haydock and Newbury finishing last and second to last but in he's defense he faced group 1 company (winner Palace Pier). In the group 3 race, he chased the leaders and then had some traffic issues so we may excuse this race. He ran in the Breeder's Cup and finished last. He started his career winning handicap races and then was moved up, he is a group 2 winner last year. He's overall record is 32 starts, 12 wins, 6 placings. He's record at 7 furlongs is 21 starts, 10 wins and 4 placings. Some class relief maybe just what this gelding needs.

4 – Draw 7 - Khaadem – has 4 starts this year with the best finish in a listed race at Salisbury. In his last race, he was held to the rear pushed along at the 2-furlong marker and kept moving forward but finished 5th. Ok race overall with group 3 company. This maybe just the spot to get a win? He has started 15 times with 4 wins and 4 placings. He's best races have been at the handicap or listed level. If gained anything off the last race, he should be able to make a placing here.

1m (7f213y) (Rnd) Betfred Summer Mile Stakes (Group 2) (Class 1) (4yo+) Ascot. Race is rated: Soft

9 – Draw 8 – Tilsit – very nice effort last out at Paris Longchamp. Made the led about 2 furlongs out and battle to the finish. Finishing second here after coming back from Saudi Arabia. He's won on both turf and all-weather with he's races at the 1-mile distance or longer. He is also lightly raced with 6 starts and 2 wins. I think the last race was useful and should win here.

10 – Draw 6 – Top Rank – he has seen the backend of Palace Pier twice this season and really wasn't close. He won his first start at Doncaster and he's last start was a good second in a listed race as the favorite at Windsor. I can see him placing here.

8 – Draw 4 – Space Traveller – won last out at York in a listed race with a 4-horse field. The front runner was 10 lengths out soon after the start, at the 2-furlong marker, he moved up and passed the leader to go on and win with a clear finish. He's first start of the year was awful in a listed race and he's fitness had to be questioned. Off the win and he has won at group 2 level at the distance, I like his chanced to get a placing here. He has 5 starts at 1 mile and won 2 of them.

Hong Kong – Sha Tin (get up early to watch)

Race 8Handicap – Rating: 115-90 – 1600m (1 mile) – 3:05am CDT

2 – Rattan – off slowly in last rallied for third. Better trip here, he wins.

6 – Lucky Express – racing at lower levels but get the services of J Moreira (top jockey) and has placed with this horse before. Will rally from far back.

7 – Tourbillon Diamond – can run on frontend or come off the pace. Should have a chance here.

1 – Champion's Way – only has 1 win this season but facing better. Get going here?

Race10 – Handicap – Rating: 115-90 – 1200m (6 furlongs) – 4:15am CDT

1 – Computer Patch – speed in the race should be able to take this field wire to wire.

7 – Lucky Patch – good efforts all season except the last one facing 4 year old's only. This is a good spot to bounce back. He has 10 starts and 2 wins 2 seconds 2 thirds.

2 – Stronger – good for a placing but win?

5 – Buddies – has not run a good race in last 5 races. Drops to level that he has a chance.
