Daniel J. Lopez's undefeated filly, CHUB WAGON, is set to face six others in Saturday's $100K Dashing Beauty Stakes at Delaware Park. She's put together seven wins in a row, and has not failed to deliver as an odds-on favorite in all five times. Will she notch win number eight? Let's analyze this.
The Dashing Beauty Stakes is a six furlong sprint for Fillies and Mares, Three-years-old and upward, scheduled for Race 4 with a Post Time of 2:45 PM ET.
ANNA'S BANDIT: 15-1
GLORY DIA: 12-1
PAISLEY SINGING: 15-1
HELLO BEAUTIFUL: 5-1
CHUB WAGON: 4-5
AVA'S CHARM: 7-2
CHUB WAGON for trainer Preciado Guadalupe is the deserving favorite, breaking from post position six at odds of 4-5. She has done nothing wrong in her career for her connections. She's converted on every assignment given to her. She's a three-time stakes winner who continues to improve her speed figures. Based on her last four races, she's running at a decent 102 ESF.
Note: the speed figures required of previous winners of the race: CHALON in 2020 won with a 97 ESF; BRONX BEAUTY in 2019 won with a 111 ESF, and DUST AND DIAMONDS in 2012 with a 115 EF.
This talented 4-year-old filly by HEY CHUB will be making her first start at Delaware Park, but is under the familiar guidance of regular rider Jomar Torres. CHUB WAGON has versatility to her advantage with :22 first-quarter speed at her disposal. She can go after the lead and never let go of it, or, she can rate off the pace and pounce, as demonstrated by her last two victories. In her last race, she proved she can overcome trouble when she was bottled up at the rail and keen to go on, but had to be restrained. Yet she came out firing after swinging to the outside for her stretch run. Watch the replay below of the Shine Again Stakes.
Note CHUB WAGON's sharp 4F workout on June 30th at Parx, going :46 as the 3rd fastest of 24 works at that distance. She's ready to roll, but must overcome a particular rival who nearly beat her last time: HELLO BEAUTIFUL.
CHUB WAGON and HELLO BEAUTIFUL face each other for the second time; the first time being the Shine Again Stakes, as seen in the video provided above.
CHUB WAGON needed the greater length of the stretch to reel in HELLO BEAUTIFUL, who was racing off a four-month layoff. HELLO BEAUTIFUL might be tougher to catch this time around, as she makes her second start with more endurance to compete with. HELLO BEAUTIFUL is a speedball. She has shown :21 first-quarter speed, and will break to the inside of CHUB WAGON. Unless CHUB WAGON rockets out of the gate, she'll probably concede the lead to HELLO BEAUTIFUL for a stalking trip.
Looking for a longshot play?
Consider PAISLEY SINGING from trainer Charles Frock at 15-1. She breaks from the fourth-hole with Trevor McCarthy onboard for the first time. She already won over this Delaware Park course in her lone try. She, too, ran in the Shine Again Stakes against CHUB WAGON and HELLO BEAUTIFUL, but finished third. It was a decent third. Not only did she outrun her $59.00-to-win odds that day, she also did it while making her first start against stakes competition. To top it all off, she earned herself a new top speed figure for that effort. Her mind is on running. Look out.
