Clear Creek Stud sadly announced today that their four-time Louisiana stallion, HALF OURS, was euthanized Saturday morning following a paddock accident at the farm located in Folsom, Louisiana.

"It is a sad day for us all. HALF OURS enriched our breeders' program in Louisiana and beyond, having touched many who bred and raced. He was obviously an integral part of Clear Creek Stud's very existence, like a family member that you saw every day. His loss will be felt by many and his influence will remain for years to come, defined by progeny that always showed up, held together, running on both dirt or grass," said Val Murrell of Clear Creek Stud.

HALF OURS, an UNBRIDLED'S SONG son, topped the Louisiana sire list from 2014-2017 and is currently leading the 2021 rankings as well.

HALF OURS was bred by Brilliant Stables. He went through the auction ring twice, selling as a yearling for $625,000. He then went on a five-race winning streak, his second start being the Three Chimneys Juvenile Stakes at Keeneland in 2005. In 2006, he was sold at auction again for $6.1 million.

He won the Grade 2 Richter Scale Sprint Championship Handicap in 2007 at Gulfstream Park. He was second in the Grade 3 Alysheba Stakes in 2007 and then retired after a seventh-place finish in the Grade 1 Metropolitan Handicap at Belmont Park. HALF OURS went on to stud with a record of 7 starts including 5 first and 1 second and lifetime earnings of $319,800.

HALF OURS stood at Taylor Made Stallions in Kentucky before moving to Clear Creek Stud in 2011. He is the sire of 38 stakes horses, of which 21 are stakes winners of 41 stakes races for lifetime earnings of more than $20 million.
