KMN Racing's I'M SO ANNA took a perfect stalking trip under jockey Kyle Frey, pressing the pace before ultimately pulling away late in Friday's $175K Fleet Treat Stakes at Del Mar.
Sent off at odds of 5-1, and trained by Steve Sherman, I'M SO ANNA tracked pacesetter TEDDY'S BARINO through opening quarters of 22.58 and 45.86.
It was a two-horse race through the backstretch; the top pair traded head bobs for the lead before I'M SO ANNA cruised forward and ultimately pulled away in deep stretch.
TEDDY'S BARINO was game, nearly coming back, but had to settle for second place today. CLOSING REMARKS kept on for third. The final time for the seven furlongs on dirt was 1:24.34.
I'M SO ANNA paid $13.40 to win, $2.60 to place, and $4.40 to show. She is by FAST ANNA out of SO SO FAST by JET WEST. She improves her record to 4 wins, 2 seconds, and 3 thirds from 12 total starts, and pushes her earnings to $289,740.
I"M SO ANNA has improved since her sixth-place finish in her lone graded stakes start. She has made four starts since then, finishing in the money every time. At Del Mar she's got 1 win and 1 second from 2 total tries. We might see this filly trying her hooves in graded stakes company really soon.
Jockey Kyle Frey is having an awesome year so far, winning at a 25% rate, which is 3% higher than where he finished last year. Big ups to Kyle!
