Godolphin LLC's PIXELATE is razor sharp heading into Monday's $150K Buckland Stakes at Colonial Downs.
She's set to face nine others in the one mile and one-eighth event on the turf, for three-year-olds and upward. She drew the seven hole and has been assigned morning-line odds of 7-2. Let's have a look at the field and three potential win canditates:
Race 8, The $150K Buckland Stakes — 1 1/8 miles, Turf, Three-year-olds and upward.

PIXELATE will be making her first start at Colonial Downs for trainer Michael Stidham. She has been working brilliantly. As mentioned, she registered four consecutive bullet works since her last win on June 13th. Mind you, she's training at Fair Hill with a small number of horses; five to seven. But the times are sharp in and of themselves, not to mention she hasn't skipped a beat.
June 27th: 4F in :48.40, fastest of 6.
July 4th: 4F in :48.60, fastest of 6.
July 11th: 4F in :48.00, fastest of 5.
July 18th: 4F in :47.80, fastest of 7.
The 4-year-old filly by CITY ZIP exits a win at nine furlongs and has done well for herself at this distance: a record of 2 wins, 1 second, and 1 third from 6 total tries. She's a tough competitor, racing against the boys yet again, while having raced against the likes of COLONEL LIAM in the past, on at least two occasions. In her most recent start, she had jockey Joe Bravo on the saddle and they came out a winner in the Prince George's County Stakes at Pimlico, while achieving a new top speed figure for the effort. Bravo is back again for the assignment.
EONS from the two hole for trainer Arnaud Delacour is 10-1 on the morning-line and with a fighting chance. He exits a race where he ran into trouble, having to steady repeatedly yet managed to finish third to the above filly. In that effort, this son of GIANT'S CAUSEWAY still earned a new top speed figure, albeit in defeat. He's on the improve and has Mychel J. Sanchez returning to the saddle. EONS has 1 win and 1 third from 2 tries at this nine furlong distance.
MEGACITY is 9-2 on the morning line and breaks from post position five. Here's another son of CITY ZIP but one who figures to seize the lead early and never relinquish it. MEGACITY scored his last two consecutive wins for previous trainer John Stephens, but is now in the care of trainer Michael Tomlinson, who currently wins at 18% in non-graded stakes. This horse is quick. Two races ago, he flashed :22 opening-quarter speed in an 8.5 furlong race and edged away from his competition for the win. One race ago, a tougher OC100k at Belmont Park, he won at odds of $42.25-to-win, and earned a new top speed figure to shoe. Jockey Joseph Rocco Jr. gets the call.
