Jockeys Tomas Mejia and Heriberto Figueroa were involved in an accident in Sunday's fifth race at Monmouth Park sending them both to the hospital by ambulance.

Monmouth Park's Medica Director, Dr. Angelo Chinnici, stated, "[Mejia] was transported for further treatment and evaluation for a head trauma." Figueroa was alert and oriented but was also sent to be evaluated for a concussion. "I expect he will be treated and released," said Chinnici.

Mejia's mount, SERVICE WITH HONOR, appeared to clip heels with ONE MORE NIGHTCAP coming out of the final turn of the mile and sixteenth starter allowance race. Mejia was slammed into the turf face down. Figueroa, riding ROSE FOR A SAINT, went down while trying to avoid hitting SERVICE WITH HONOR.
