It was a beautiful day of racing at Belmont Park for Jockey Club Gold Cup Day. Here's a recap of the highlights of the weekend, as several horses earned their way into multiple Breeders' Cup races in November.

$250,000 Champagne Stakes (G1)

JACKIE'S WARRIOR kept his perfect record in tact and earned a berth into the TVG Breeders' Cup Juvenile Presented by Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (G1). Straight from the gate the colt went to the lead in the field of six with REINVESTMENT RISK tracking in second throughout. The colt put in an easy half mile with splits of :23.12 and :46.54 before taking the win with a final time of 1:35.42 on a fast track. He passed the wire 5 1/2 lengths ahead.

$250,000 Frizette Stakes (G1)

DAYOUTOFTHEOFFICE entered as the 5-2 second choice with VEQUIST the favorite. The filly by INTO MISCHIEF tracked JOY'S ROCKET who set the pace. DAYOUTOFTHEOFFICE tracked outside with VEQUIST on the rail. She stayed stuck on the rail as they came around the bend and DAYOUTOFTHEOFFICE made her way down the track shaking clear of her challenger. She scored herself a spot in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) on November 6th.

$250,000 Flower Bowl Stakes

The five year old mare CIVIL UNION showed what she was made of on the turf in the Flower Bowl. The mare scored herself a spot in the lucrative $2 million Maker's Mark Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf (G1T) on November 7th. This is a big step up as she began the summer still eligible for a first level allowance race. The mare ran a nice ground-saving trip under Joe Rosario after settling in sixth early as LOVELY LUCKY set the pace. She helf off a determine MY SISTER NAT down the stretch as she took the win down the center of the course.

Only five were endtered for the Jockey Club Gold Cup with the horses being loaded in the outside five stalls of the starting gate. HAPPY SAVER broke on top but settled on the rail allowing TACITUS to set the pace. They ran an easy opening quarter of :24.93 as MYSTIC GUIDE tracked well of the rail. MYSTIC GUIDE made his move for the lead on the turn, but HAPPY SAVER continued moving forward on the inside with TACITUS. The three horses were even at the head of the lane but HAPPY SAVER was determined to get the win fending off MYSTIC GUIDE. TACITUS finished third.

HAPPY SAVER made his racing debut less than four months ago, but now as a spot in the Breeders' Cup Classic. Whether or not he will make that start will be determined later.
