Delaware Park has canceled racing for Wednesday, August 11th and Thursday, August 12th due to the excessive heat forecasted for the area. This comes as a recommendation from the chief commission veterinarian of the Delaware Thoroughbred Racing Commission.

According to Accuweather's forecast of Delaware Park, NJ for the next two days, it reads:

Thursday: "Excessive Heat Warning, 96 Degrees Hi: Partly sunny; very hot, humid 96 degrees; danger of dehydration and heat stroke if outside for extended periods of time".

Friday: "Excessive Heat Warning, 97 Degrees Hi; Very hot and humid with times of sun and clouds; a strong thunderstorm in spots late in the afternoon."

The Cape Henlopen Stakes, originally set for Wednesday, has been moved to Monday, August 16th. Live racing is scheduled to resume on Saturday, August 14th.

The $75K Cape Henlopen Stakes is a 1 1/2 mile race on the turf, for three-year-olds and upward. Assuming there are no scratches from Wednesday's original entries, this is the expected field:
