It's the last weekend of BIG races at Arlington Park.

No guest, no problem for the The Player's Edge crew.

Terry "Hollywood" Hay, Swiss Army Shawn, 22 to 1 Tom and Rich say farewell to the Chicagoland racetrack with their analysis, opinions and picks for:

Arlington Park Race 7 - $400,000 BEVERLY D. STAKES
Arlington Park Race 8 - $300,000 BRUCE D. STAKES
Arlington Park Race 9 - $600,000 MR. D STAKES

It's a back and forth show with a lot of banter, hopefully filled with winning picks.

Terry "Hollywood" Hay's Handicap

Arlington Park Race 7 - $400,000 BEVERLY D. STAKES – GRADE I

Race Scenario: Mean Mary will go for the lead. Naval Laughter will stay close to the leader and close in the stretch. Santa Barbara will close from deeper and win the race.

#4 – Santa Barbara was blocked in her last race and still won the Grade 1 race. She has Jockey Ryan Moore and Trainer Aidan O'Brien a winning combination.

#2 - Mean Mary has won over a million dollars earning a fantastic Beyer number of 113. During her career she has finished 81% of the time in the money, winning 64% of the races.

#5 - Naval Laughter just won her last race, a Grade 3 event at today's distance on the turf.  She is versatile as she can lead a race all the way or come from behind and Sophie Doyle is in the irons again. (13 4-2-2 31%).

#6 - Lemista ran disappointing 8th in her last race the Grade 1 Diana, it appears that she was always behind a wall of horses. Lasix is added which may help and Flavien Prat gets the mount.

Arlington Park Race 8 - $300,000 BRUCE D. STAKES – GRADE I

Race Scenario: King of Miami will go for the lead. Several horses will close from deep and Like a Saltshaker will win the race.

#9 – Like a Saltshaker ran second in his last two races. He is returning to the turf where he ran a close second at Belmont Park despite getting bumped in the race. He has a hot Jockey in last 7 days (13 4-2-3).

#2 – Tango Tango Tango likes the track as he has won the only race he competed in at Arlington Park. He likes turf as he has finished first and second in the two turf races he has ran in. He has a Sharp 4F workout (Aug-06) Kee 4f ft :46.3 B 2/27.

#1– Therideofalifetime has the highest last race speed rating, and the rail post is winning at 18% clip He has a sharp 4F workout (Aug-07) Kee 4f ft :47.1 B 1/24.

#4 – Ginsburned ran terrible in his first career race but had an excuse as he was bumped badly. He is going up in class but just won a turf race at today's distance and has Julien Leparoux in the irons.

Arlington Park Race 9 - $600,000 MR. D STAKES – GRADE I

Race Scenario: Strong Tide, Two Emmys and Bizzee Channel will go to the lead. Several horses will stay close to the leader and close in the stretch. I think Domestic Spending will win the race in the end.

#3 – Domestic Spending has the highest last race speed rating. He won his last race at Belmont 1-1/4 on the Turf, The Manhattan-Grade 1. He has a sharp 4F workout (Aug-08) and Trainer Chad Brown and veteran jockey Julien Leparoux.

#8 – Bizzee Channel has won two races in a row going for a third, a hat trick. He has a great Trainer/Jockey combo who in last 14 days has the following record (14 4-5-3) and a Sharp 4F workout (Aug-07) AP 4f ft :47.3 B 4/26.

#9 – Armory has been running in Graded stakes races in Europe winning the Prince of Wales's Grade 1. During his career he has finished in the money 80% of the time, winning 33% of the races. He has Jockey Ryan Moore and Trainer Aidan O'Brien who has been doing well in USA.

#5– Zulu Alpha ran an even race after taking a 10-month break and should do better in his second race after the break. He has been consistently working out in preparation for this race.

Swiss Army Shawn's Selections

Arlington Park Race 7 - $400,000 BEVERLY D. STAKES – GRADE I

RACE SUMMARY: #2 Mean Mary should get her way up front here. Will have to hold off #4 Santa Barbara who will be flying late. #2 Mean Mary- Could be the best horse in the race and will always get an advantage pace wise. Luis Saez has been winning all the big races and everywhere this year.

#4 Santa Barbara- Will be flying late. I like that she already has a race and a win already in the US.

#5 Naval Laughter- I like alot of things about this horse including the pace of this race. It's possible this is a merry go around race, and she follows Mean Mary all the way around. I also like how she's been running and having jockey Sophie Doyle.

Arlington Park Race 8 - $300,000 BRUCE D. STAKES – GRADE I

RACE SUMMARY: Not sure who will get the lead of the gate in this wide-open race. Possibly the #8 King Of Miami followed by #2 Tango Tango Tango and the #9 Like a Saltshaker.

#1 Therideofalifetime- A wildcard in the race as it's his first time on the turf. I'm willing to take a shot at a nice 6/1 ML with the rail. I like James Graham on the turf and the fact it's his 4th straight race on this horse.

#6 Point By Me- The least race horse in the field who has the best jockey in the race with Luis Saez. WIll be flying late and should at least get a piece.

#9 Like A Saltshacker- A high percentage jockey and trainer who has should get a nice trip with being close to the pace. Trainer Larry Rivelli has two in here and this is the longer shot. I career race on turf and it was a nice second at Belmont last October.

$20 win #1

Arlington Park Race 9 - $600,000 MR. D STAKES – GRADE I

RACE SUMMARY: The #4 Two Emmy's should get the lead after the gates open. He will be pressed along by the #10 Big Dreaming and the #8 Bizzee Channel. They will all have to hold off the #3 Domestic Spending.

#3 Domestic Spending- Will get there at the end like he always seems to do. In my opinion he has beat better fields than this one. The only danger is the running style of being a deep closer and having to deal with traffic.

#8 Bizzee Channel- Loves Arlington winning 4 of 5 races. Has beaten some of these horses already. Should get a nice trip here sitting behind one or two horses.

#5 Zula Alpha- The veteran by far in this group as this will be his 37th career race. He will be closing from deep and will try to get the jump on the favorite trying to make the same move.

22 to 1 Tom's Tips

Arlington Park Race 7 - $400,000 BEVERLY D. STAKES – GRADE I

Mean Mary will try and make all the running with Naval Laughter and maybe Joy Epifora trying to keep up. The others will be looking to close late

2 – Mean Mary

•            Front runner and just beat Thundering Nights at Belmont. She went on to win the Pretty Polly at the Curragh (group 1) with Santa Barbara finishing second.

•            2 for 2 this year

•            Only bad race was the Breeder's Cup (7th finish)

•            She's 2 for 3 at the distance of 1 3/16 mile race

6 – Lemista

•            Just missed in a grade 3 at Belmont then a poor run at Saratoga in the grade 1 Diana

•            Winning of group races in Ireland

•            Only 9 starts for this 4-year-old with 4 wins and 2 placings

•            Needs to lay closer to the pace than last race to have a chance.

4 – Santa Barbara

•            Powerful race last time at Belmont beating 3-year-olds in the Oaks grade 1

•            Trip was eventful with a shift to get room at the top of the stretch. Hand ride by Ryan Moore (no whip used in the race)

•            Has run against older horses before in the Pretty Polly at the Curragh, finished second

•            Gets Lasix for first time

Arlington Park Race 8 - $300,000 BRUCE D. STAKES – GRADE I

Three will try for the lead: Therideofalifetime, Tango Tango Tango and King of Miami. New Year Surprise and Like a Saltshaker will sit behind and the others will be waiting to make their move midway on the back stretch moving towards the turn. This is a strange grade 1 race because no horse in this field has won a graded stakes race.

8 – King of Miami

•            Tired in last race at 1 1/16 maybe distance too far?

•            Has flashed speed in some past races but closed in the Mystic Lake Derby to win at the distance for off the pace at 15-1

•            Top Arlington trainer Larry Rivelli winning at 36% at the meeting

•            Wants a firm course to win? Rain this week may not be in his favor

7 – Shadizaar

•            Strange effort last out running last and then move up a bit on the rail but never a threat at 72-1 at Canterbury

•            Better efforts vs lesser at Turf Paradise

•            Moves late in the race but needs to establish position early in race

•            Why not take a longshot here

2 – Tango Tango Tango

•            Win last race (first win) in the American Derby with blinkers for the first time

•            Good early position in the race

•            Trainer Jack Sisterson has positive ROI in grade stakes races this year

•            Calumet Farms paid 35k for the horse at Keeneland out of a sire Tourist (good turf horse) unproven sire to this point

•            Favorite

Arlington Park Race 9 - $600,000 MR. D STAKES – GRADE I

Bizzee Channel will take the lead with Two Emmys, Big Dreaming and Strong Tide right behind. Our stalkers will be Zulu Alpha, Armory, Space Traveller and Domestic Spending with the rest trying to keep up. The leaders give way midway to the top of the stretch with the stalkers and closer coming on.

3 – Domestic Spending

•            Lost one race in his career last year

•            Undefeated this year winning 2 grade 1's

•            The horse that finished second to him was a next out winner in stakes race

•            Good work on :47.4 at Saratoga August 8 over the turf.

•            Best US based turf horse

•            Favorite

•            More Arlington donations to Chad Brown (winner of Arlington Million and other turf events)

6 – Another Mystery

•            Local horse ran ok last out finish 3rd but no match for winner. Wide trip didn't help

•            Switched to Chris Block last 2 races with 2 thirds

•            Faced grade 2 and 3 company with limited success in past

•            Workout of :47.1 over the all-weather July 31 then maintenance work next out

•            Win, no but placing is within this horses' effort

7 – Space Traveller

•            Winner at York in handicap vs ok horses – first start

•            Then thrown in against the lions (so to speak) in next 2 starts

•            At Ascot vs Tilsit, Century of Dreams and Al Suhail – tough spot and get worse

•            At Glorious Goodwood group 1 Sussex Mile faced top milers in Alcohol Free, Poetic Flare, Snow Lantern plus other very good horses at 125-1

•            19 starts with 5 wins and 4 placings

•            Never ran this long of race but good spot to try

•            Needs good to firm course to have a chance

9 – Amory

•            3 races this year with 1 win in group 2 at Chester

•            Faced best in next race Love and Audarya but these 2 lost next out. Chased them but not good enough finishing third in the group 1 race

•            A little better effort next out vs Bangkok pushed with 2 furlongs left with no real progress made

•            15 starts with 5 wins and 7 placings

•            Gets Lasix for the first time

•            Better than the rest in here.
