Homewrecker Racing LLC's POINT ME BY asserted his authority in Saturday's $300K Bruce D. Stakes (G1) at Arlington Park, splitting horses and getting bumped in the stretch but still drawing clear for the victory.

Sent off at odds of $1.70-to-win, and ridden by jockey Luis Saez, POINT ME BY took a tracking trip in fourth early on, while the pacesetter opened the quarters 25.03 and 50.04. This was a total walk considering the race was contested at just one mile.

POINT ME BY improved nicely by the second turn, splitting horses and enduring a significant bump when TANGO TANGO TANGO came out. Nevertheless, he stuck to the task, dug deep, and drew clear in the final yards. TANGO TANGO TANGO finished a neck back in second, while GINSBURNED kept on for third. The final time for the one mile race was 1:37.70.

POINT ME BY paid $5.40 to win, $2.80 to place, and $2.40 to show. He is by POINT OF ENTRY out of VIVA ALLEGIANCE by PROUD CITIZEN. He now has 2 wins from 3 starts, pushes his earnings to $238,268 and produced a new top speed figure.

"He ran quite well at Saratoga opening week," winning trainer Eddie Kenneally said after the race, reflecting on POINT ME BY's previous start. "Had a terrible trip, might have been the best horse, got beaten a length, length and a quarter, and was just full of run, just nothing worked out for him. But he showed up and he ran a good race."

Keneally continued: "We just took a look (at the Bruce D.) and we thought it's not nearly as deep as it has been in years past. We thought for the money we'd take a shot—straight 3-year-olds instead of running against older horses." (BloodHorse)
