Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort in Hot Springs, Arkansas is incentivizing its active and future employees to be fully vaccinated. All vaccinated team members, beginning on October 10th, will have their non-tipped hourly wages raised to a minimum of $16 per hour.
Tipped hourly team members will receive a raise to a minimum of $8.50 an hour. Salaried team members will receive a 3% increase.
For new starting members, fully vaccinated, the starting salary will be $40,000 per year.
Current team members are eligible for these financial perks through December 31.
"We live in challenging times right now," said Oaklawn president Louis Cella.
"We are struggling to fill open positions and COVID is still hanging on. With the vaccine incentive, we are looking to change the financial health of our current and future team members. Most importantly, Oaklawn believes in protecting the health of our team members, their families and our community. The vaccine incentive, coming on the heels of the FDA approving the Pfizer vaccine, should move those unvaccinated to become vaccinated."
For new and seasonal team members after January 1st, 2022, they qualify for the same vaccine incentives if they provide a valid vaccination card.
Oaklawn Park intends to continue its COVID cash incentive drawings, which got started at the beginning of August. The track is giving away $45k to Team Members who provided documentation showing they are fully vaccinated.
Masks are still required when working at Oaklawn as they continue to provide and encourage its team members to get a free vaccine.
