There is a big night of racing scheduled at Charles Town racetrack in West Virginia tonight.  They have a 13-race card with the first race having a post time of 5 pm ET. A lot of big names are in town. Let's take a look at the field for the two biggest races of the night, the Charles Town Oaks and Charles Town Classic and see if we can find some winners.

Charles Town Oaks

The Grade 3 Charles Town Oaks is Race 11 on the card and scheduled for a 9:45 pm ET post time.

#1 CARAMEL SWIRL is the deserving ML favorite. The Beyer figure she posted last time out of 95 is the highest by any horse in this field by a good margin. She also will be forwardly placed, possibly the leader out of the gate. Another thing that is great for her is she loves this distance of 7 furlongs winning 2 of 4 with a second.

#2 STREET LUTE could be intriguing at a nice price of 8/1 ML. This horse has won 8 of 12 career races including 3 for 3 at this distance. She gets the X-man aboard, Xavier Perez, who used to be a regular rider at Charles Town. He is 6 for 13 this year at Charles Town.

#3 PAULINE'S PEARL is overvalued in this spot to me. I can't take a 3/1 price which is what her ML is. She only has won 2 of 7 career races and never ran at this distance. She has run against good company but her style also doesn't fit here as she gets going really late.

#4 MOON SWAG is a toss to me as again she's never ran this distance, and she gets going too late for a track like Charles Town. Best chance is getting in tri or super.

#5 FABRICATE again is an easy toss for me as for the win.  The only thing this horse has going for her is the fact that Luis Saez is aboard. She has finished 3rd all 3 times she has run at 7 furlongs. You could use in tri's and super's and hope she can add value to your ticket.

#6 Inject is your Brad Cox and Florent Geroux horse. There always seems to be one in every big race no matter where it is. This horse has some early pace which will help her chances, but this is the furthest she has ever gone, so how will she like the extra distance, I'm not so sure.

#7 COMPETITIVE SPEED is overmatched here. Best case scenario is she grabs a piece.

#8 R ADIOS JERSEY is interesting at a nice 12/1 ML price.  She's going to be part of the speed and gets Paco Lopez. This will be her biggest test by far but she is 4 for 4 with one of those wins coming at this distance.

#9 MISS LESLIE is an easy toss for me. She just gets started way too late and also doesn't fit with these horses.

#10 ALLWORTHY is another lightly raced horse that will be tested here. I don't like the post with the tight turns at Charles Town. Best case she saves some ground and can pass some tired horses and get a piece.

#11 ALAYLA needs a scratch to draw in. She has only ran 3 races and never faced this kind of competition. Will be a part of the pace if she is entered.

My pick is #1 CARAMEL SWIRL as I think she can sit behind some of the dueling leaders.  She is the class of the field and should get a perfect trip. I like #2 STREET LUTE to get in the exacta, and he's one, if you get a nice price, to put on top as well. She likes this distance and has been battle tested. #8 R ADIOS JERSEY rounds out my trifecta as I think she will hold on for a piece after setting the pace.

Charles Town Classic

Now onto the headline race of the day, the Charles Town Classic, which is race 12 on the card and scheduled for a 10:18 pm ET post time.

#1 WARRIOR'S CHARGE - this is your Brad Cox and Florent Geroux horse in this race. Needs to get the lead to have a shot to win as that's the only way he has won his 5 career races. It's going to be tough here to get that lead, so I would not take a short price.

#2 NOBLE DRAMA is interesting despite the fact I don't care for closers at Charles Town. This horse always seems to be around at the end and closed well at Gulfstream which is not an easy track to close on.

#3 RUSHIE - I like the fact that he can run upfront or off the pace. The horse is battle tested and one I would use in the exotics but not on top.

#4 BOURBON CALLING is an easy toss as I don't think he fits here and is way too deep of a closer for this track.

#5 INFORMATIVE is another one that is just  going to be too far back and hasn't done anything in 2 starts at this distance.

#6 NY TRAFFIC has been battle tested and has some pace but doesn't need the lead. A perfect horse to use in exotics.

#7 SLEEPY EYES TODD - talk about being battle tested. This horse travels everywhere and normally is very competitive. I like that this is his second start back in the States and a track where he has won before.

#8 ART COLLECTOR is going to be really tough as this will be your pace setter and he loves the distance, winning 3 of 3. Luis Saez has been riding lights out so no concerns of getting a bad ride.

#9 RESTRAINEDVENGENCE does like this distance winning 2 of 3. Mostly a turf horse, has won 3 of 9 on the dirt. Will stalk the pace, maybe he hangs around and hangs on to be in the exotics.

#10 AIR TOKEN is a deep closer getting ready to run his toughest race and gets the worst post position. He is an easy toss for me.

My pick is #8 ART COLLECTOR, as you get the hottest jockey right now and a horse that loves this distance.  He should be forwardly placed but doesn't need the lead. #6 NY TRAFFIC is my second pick as this horse is battle tested and should get a nice trip behind the leaders. #2 NOBLE DRAMA will close to fill out your trifecta. This horse is always around at the end and will be this time as well.
