Monster Racing Stable's CRITICAL WAY outlasted two fast-closing rivals to capture Tuesday's $200K Parx Dash Stakes (G3) at Parx Racing.

The 7-year-old veteran, trained by Jose Delgado, has now won three races in a row, and achieved his first graded stakes victory of his career. A model of ultra consistency, he has never failed to finish in the top three in all ten of his last starts.

Sent off at odds of $0.30-to-win and ridden by Paco Lopez, THE CRITICAL WAY dueled three-wide of pacesetters FRANCATELLI and AMBLIN MAN through opening quarters of 23.03 and 46.44.

With good energy, THE CRITICAL WAY powered forward and seized the lead approaching the turn, but was floated wide into the stretch, having to re-rally for the lead and fend off two fast-closing rivals to his outside. In a blanket finish, he prevailed by a nose.

BATTLE STATION surged for second, FRANCATELLI was a head back in third. The final time for the five furlongs on a turf course listed as ‘firm' was 58.55.

THE CRITICAL WAY paid $2.60 to win, $2.10 to place, and $2.10 to show. He is by TIZWAY out of CRITICAL FACTOR by STAR DE NASKRA. He improved his 2021 campaign to 7: 4-2-1 and pushed his earnings to $593,168.
