Saratoga Closes with Record Handle

For the first time in history, the Saratoga summer meet generated an all-sources wagering handle of over $800 million. 

The track established its new record on Wednesday, September 1st with five race days still remaining in the season. The final handle was $815,508,063, a 15.6 percent increase over 2019. 

Paid attendance for the meet totaled 1,046,478. This marked the sixth consecutive season of more than a million paid attendance at the track, not counting 2020 due to COVID restrictions. 

Average daily handle for the meet was $20,387,702. This is the first time the daily average has eclipsed $20 million.

The 28-day Belmont meet will start on September 16th, 2021. It will feature over $11 million in purses and 47 stakes races.
