Bob Baffert doesn't have quite the string of horses in the Breeders' Cup as Chad Brown does, but he does have a quality line. In particular, he has three big contenders in the Longines Breeders' Cup Classic - IMPROBABLE, MAXIMUM SECURITY, and AUTHENTIC. Talk about tough competition.

We'll start with IMPROBABLE. He has a lengthy resume with 4 Grade 1 wins, three of those being his last three starts in the Hollywood Gold Cup Stakes,  Whitney Stakes, and Awesome Again Stakes. His performance in the Awesome Again has been particularly highlighted as he closed out the race with MAXIMUM SECURITY finishing two and a half lengths back.

MAXIMUM SECURITY'S record is almost perfect with the blemishing DQ in the 2019 Kentucky Derby, a second in the Pegasus Stakes and that finish most recently in the Awesome Again.  Despite the controversial Derby, he has clearly shown that he is the real deal.

The youngest of the trio is AUTHENTIC.  He too has nearly a perfect record with only a couple of places in the RUNHAPPY Santa Anita Derby and the Preakness Stakes, which we all know was one heck of a performance.

In the TVG Juvenile, he has SPIELBERG. The 2-year-old colt placed second in his maiden, but showing his talent, he was entered into the RUNHAPPY Del Mar Futurity, a Grade 1 race where he placed second and then the American Pharoah Stakes, another Grade 1 where he placed third. He may be lightly raced, but we all know Bob has an eye for talent.

FIGHTING MAD is Baffert's lone mare and she is a probable in the Distaff.  Most of her starts have been Grade 3 and Grade 2 races. She is lightly raced this year with a fourth in the Desert Stormer Stakes (G3), first in the Santa Maria Stakes (G2),  first in the Clement L. Hirsch Stakes (G1) and a third in the Zenyatta Stakes (G2).

In the Juvenile Fillies, Baffert has PRINCESS NOOR and VARDA. Mike Smith describes PRINCESS NOOR as the best filly he's ever ridden. She got her Breeders' Cup entry by winning the 2020 Chandelier Stakes. She has a three win record with the Grade 1 Del Mar Debutante Stakes and the the Grade 2 Chandelier Stakes as well as her Del Mar maiden win. VARDA came in second place to PRINCESS NOOR in the Chandelier and earned her start for Baffert as well.

Baffert has the impressive daughter of INTO MISCHIEF, GAMINE, in the Filly & Mare Sprint. She has three stakes wins in the Longines Acorn Stakes, the Longines Test and the Longines Kentucky Oaks. She has a 3-0-1 record out of 5 starts.
