JACK CHRISTOPHER earned a "Win and You're In" entry into the Grade 1 $2 Million Breeders' Cup Juvenile on November 5th at Del mar with his victory in the $500,000 Champagne for trainer Chad Brown. The colt earned a 93 Beyer with his 2 3/4 length win in the mile race for juveniles.
The victory was the third Champagned win for trainer Chad Brown who won it with PRACTICAL JOKE in 2016 and COMPLEXITY in 2018. He finished second in 2017 with GOOD MAGIC, who would go on to be the Breeders' Cup Juvenile champion that yeaar.
"We were obviously pleased with the race," said Dan Stupp, Brown's Belmont-based assistant. "He ate up well last night and we're happy with how he looked this morning."
JACK CHRISTOPHER came into the race off a sharp 8 3/4 length triumph on August 28th going six furlongs at Saratoga. The colt only has one turn experience, so the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile will be a new challenge for him adding a turn.
"The way he was able to relax and rate and with his running style, why not? He didn't do anything that would stop us from trying. He handled the extra ground very well," said Stupp.
JACK CHRISTOPHER is owned by Jim Backke, Gerald Isbister, Coolmore Stud and Peter Brant.
