Letruska Dominates in Spinster Stakes

LETRUSKA went to the lead in the Grade 1 Spinster Stakes and the remaining field of five could do nothing but watch her run at Keeneland today. 

With Irad Ortiz, Jr. aboard, the five-year-old mare ran a repeat performance othe Personal Ensign at Saratoga where she easily moved to the front into the first turn. Today, Ortiz set fractions of :24 and :47.89, allowing the mare a chance to breathe on the backside before turning on the speed again in the far turn. She kicked away in the stretch, finishing 3 ½ lengths ahead of DUNBAR ROAD. BONNY SOUTH finished third. 

Her SPINSTER win earned her an automatic, all fees paid trip to Del Mar for the Breeders' Cup Distaff. Of course, she'd already earned that spot by winning the G1 Ogden Phipps, the G1 Fleur de Lis, and the Personal Ensign. 

LETRUSKA was bred by St. George Stables. She is by SUPER SAVER and out of MAGIC APPEAL by SUCCESFUL APPEAL. She has six wins from seven starts in 2021. She has a lifetime record of 22-17-1-1 and earnings of $2,236,459.
