The filly that finished second in the Kentucky Oaks and then went on to run one of the fastest Preakness' in history against very tough competition will officially run in the Breeders' Cup Distaff.
Trainer Kenny McPeek made the announcement Friday in an interview with TVG citing that he and owner Peter Callahan made the decision after analyzing the fields. He stated, "At this point, it is the Distaff, unless there was some sort of late scratch out of the Classic, which I wouldn't anticipate. But at this point, yesterday we talked about it and we are planning on entering the Distaff and if for some odd reason somebody defected from the Classic, maybe we reconsider."
The trainer had previously said he preferred the Distaff. Yesterday, she worked Saturday morning, going five furlongs in 1:00.00 at Churchill Downs who stated her works for steady. In the Distaff, the filly will meet MONOMOY GIRL, who is looking to win again, having previously won in 2018. McPeek recognizes she is the one to beat stating, "MONOMOY GIRL will definitely be the horse to beat in the Distaff and we know that and if we cant step up our game, [SWISS SKYDIVER]'s certainly a top filly."
