MONOMOY GIRL ran to victory for her second Breeders' Cup Distaff win and found herself in the Fasig-Tipton sales ring the next evening. The chestnut mare stood quietly while her fate was auctioned off. The big question of the day yesterday was whether or not she would continue to race or if she would become a broodmare.

Shortly after she hammered for $9.5 million, Ned Toffey, Spendthrift general manager, confirmed that she would stay in training with Brad Cox and would have a 6-year-old campaign in 2021. He also said that their other purchase, GOT STORMY, who they purchased for $2.75 million will also continue to race under trainer Mark Casse.
