The Fair Grounds meet kicked off this Thanksgiving Day with the running of the black-type $125,000 Thanksgiving Classic Stakes.

BOBBY'S WICKED ONE contested the pace on the inside, running against LANDESKOG, but fell back to fourth by the half-mile and stopped. LANDESKOG, showing good speed running with BOBBY'S WICKED ONE but overcame to lead by the half-mile.  NITROUS, a son of TAPIT, was bumped twice early and ran in fifth through the first quarter making his way up second, going three-wide at the turn, and rallied down the stretch to get the win. MANNY WAH ran back in sixth after the start and through the half-mile. At the stretch, he swung six wide and finished with energy but not enough gas to catch NITROUS. MR MONEY BAGS was also bumped early and chased the pace on the outside. At the turn, he shifted three wide and fought down the stretch but was just out three lengths behind the winner. LANDESKOG was the early favorite and showed good speed but when asked in the upper stretch, he just couldn't get to the front of the field.

The final finish was NITROUS a length and a half, followed MANNY WAH and MR MONEY BAGS two lengths back. The final time for the 6-furlong race was 1:09.78.

NITROUS was bred by Winchell Thoroughbreds and is owned in partnership with them and Stonestreet Stables.
