The next big race on the horizon after the Cigar Mile is the Pegasus World Cup. We already know that TIZ THE LAW and CODE OF HONOR are confirmed to run in the race. CODE OF HONOR used the Clark at Churchill as a prep race, but placed second to BODEXPRESS.

This weekend we have the opportunity to see two potential runners in the $150,000 Gulfstream Park Claiming Crown Jewel - MATH WIZARD and JESUS' TEAM. JESUS' TEAM became eligible last March for the Jewel after winning a claiming race for maidens. The Jewel is 1 ?-miles for three year olds and up that started for a claiming price of $35,000 or lower. He stands pretty high above the competition considering he placed third in the Preakness and second in the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile after that start. The only other horse in the field remotely close to his level is DACK JANIEL'S, who was third in the Grade 2 Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance. PRINCE OF ARABIA and TOUGHEST ‘OMBRE both have second place finishes in listed stakes as their last starts.

MUCHO GUSTO is the defending Pegasus champion. His next big goal is the $20 million Saudi Cup on February 20th. He is expected to use the Grade 2 San Antonio at Santa Anita on December 26th as his next prep race. He could possibly run in the Pegasus as well if Baffert believes he needs another race. CHARLATAN is another possible for Baffert having placed first in the 2020 Arkansas Derby and recently putting in a bullet work of 6 furlongs in 1:13.00.

City of LightKNICKS GO is the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile winner and the Pegasus may be an option for him as his next start. CITY OF LIGHT won the BC Dirt Mile in 2018 and then went onto win the Pegasus - in the pouring rain at that.

There is a chance that OWENDALE could be entered for Brad Cox, but there has been no confirmation as of yet. It is unlikely that he would start MONOMOY GIRL, although she loves the distance and is still in training.

KING GUILLERMO is expected to run in the Grade 1 Cigar Mile Handicap. This would be his first run since the Arkansas Derby. Other probables include BODEXPRESS and TAX.
