It's a limited Monday schedule as horse racing slows during the holiday season. But, horseplayers' appetite for potential winners is never satiated. Horse Racing Radar searched hither and yon to see if we could find some Best Bets to help feed the hunger for winners.
Delta Downs Don
Race 8: NATEELYZE (PP: 9 ML 8/5)
"Horse for the course; Horse for the distance; Ready."
My Take: NATEELYZE is coming off the highest, last race speed figure in a fifth-place finish where he faded late. The four-year-old has 10 tries at Delta, winning three with a second and third. He's raced at 7 furlongs a trio of times with a pair of Ws and a second. He hasn't raced since September 7th and finished out of the money in two of his last three first starts off the bench.
Craig Donnelly's Analy$iS (the crafty spelling is on the tip sheet)
Race 4: AIN'T NONE LUCKY (PP: 10 ML 9/5)
"Ran into speedy newcomer in last and flattered when third finisher scored next time."
My Take: AIN'T NONE LUCKY is dropping in class following the best, last race speed figure for this crew. She's been the chalk in her last four, failing to score in any and seeks her first win in the ninth try in a $10k maiden claimer. Her fractions were a touch slower in her last, which was her first race in six-weeks. Her history suggests round two off the bench will be better.
Race 7: BEAUTIFUL GRACE (PP: 1 ML 6-1)
"Failed to give true measure over synthetic surface after pair of determined scores."
My Take: BEAUTIFUL GRACE failed to fire on Presque Isle Downs' all-weather track in her last but won her previous start on Delaware Park's main track, albeit wire to wire on slop. The Delaware win made it back-to-back wins for the two-year old as she broke her maiden on Monmouth turf three back. If she can get to the lead early, she has a chance. However, her mud and turf scores hint at a horse that might prefer grass.
Top Shot's Selections
Race 5: ROLLIN RIVER (PP: 4 ML 4-1)
My Take: ROLLIN RIVER has been close at this level in his last four, trying to get an elusive first win in the three-year-old's 11th try. To have a shot, the winning 1 mile time will need to be more than 1:41 and 3; one, maybe two others, might be able to run 1 mile at less than that.
