December 19th, 2020 marks a historic day for WELDER and his connections at Remington Park. He won the $38,675 open-company allowance race, the Guthrie Sprint, and tied the all-time win mark for the track.

He had good company to compete against as well including SHARE THE UPSIDE, trained by Steve Asmussen. SHARE THE UPSIDE had previously beaten WHITMORE in the King Cotton Stakes back in February at Oaklawn. SHARE THE UPSIDE had beaten WELDER by a length and a half in the 2019 Hot Springs Stakes at Oaklawn, but they both fell short to WHITMORE that day as well.

It was a taste of sweet victory for WELDER then when he went wire to wire with a final time of 1:09.79, close to his own track record of 1:08.13. SHARE THE UPSIDE followed 3 ¾ lengths ahead of DIRECT DIAL in third. DIRECT DIAL was on a three win race streak which included a couple stakes wins over the summer at Lone Star Park.

WELDER is trained by Teri Luneak and owned by Ra-Max Farms of Claremore, Oklahoma. He will head home to Claremore for a break before heading to Oaklawn. He is a gelded son of THE VISUALISER and out of a TIZNOW mare. He is now 26 of 38 with lifetime earnings of $1,204,042.
