Santa Anita Race 9: $300,000 American Oaks – Grade I
is the filly to beat coming into this race. She has a career record of
5-1-1 from eight starts and earnings of over a million dollars. In the Matriarch
Stakes (G1) at Del Mar while finishing 4th by ¾ of a length she
registered a 111 Speed Figure.
#5 – Luck Money is 10 out of 10 in the money.
#4 – Going
to Vegas is my longshot. She has performed well in the last two G3 only
missing by a neck and a half of a length.
$10.00 to Win #9
$10.00 Exacta #9 / 4, 5
$1.00 Pick Three #9 / 1-4 /
#8 Duopoly appears to be the lone speed in the race. Last out she very game
effort at Aqueduct in a listed stake race. Good post draw and on the lead this
horse appears to "dug in" to beat others. The 3 races she went wire to wire she
won. Chad Brown trained, and my only question is getting the 1 1/4 ‘s and if
she can set slower fractions, this should give her plenty left to finish on
$24 to Win #8
$1 Exacta Box 3-5-6-8
Lone speed with #8 Duopoly stands out in this group. He's not the class, that
belongs to #9 Sharing. One of the two probably wins as they could race around
the track together as leaders of the pack.
$10 Win #8
$2 Exacta 8,9/3,5,8,9
$1 Pick Three 8,9/3,4/4,8,9,10
Santa Anita Race 10: $300,000 Malibu Stakes – Grade I
#3- Nashville & # 4- Charlatan are likely
to go to front and set blistering fractions and I think #1- Collusion
Illusion will come running down the lane and catch them.
# 4- Charlatan has the highest Beyer number in
the race and has been working well for his return.
Nashville has been perfect in his career and has Mike Smith in irons.
$10.00 to Win #1
$10.00 Exacta- #1 / 4
#3 Nashville set the track record last out at Keeneland. He
was geared down at the end of the race. Nashville has good works coming into
this race. The odds-on favorite on the lead should be tough to beat. My saver
is #6 Independence Hall has won at 7 furlongs in a maiden at Prax and too me
appears to be a miler or sprinter not a distance horse. Comes off the pace at
Del Mar to win vs a pretty good field last race and has fast works coming into
$10 Exacta Box 3-6
It looks like a two-horse chalk race between #3 Nashville
and #4 Charlatan; although, it will be interesting to see how the horse that
doesn't get the lead reacts.
$2 Exacta 3,4,6/3,4
Santa Anita Race 11: $75,000 Lady of Shamrock Stakes
#9 - Warren's
Showtime is a multiple stakes winner and she will be coming down the lane
#4 - On Mars has won three of
her last four races and Mike Smith is riding.
#10 - Annangel is
perfect since coming in from Europe and is a horse to use in the exotics.
#7 - Nasty could
make the lead and wire the field.
$8.00 to Win #9
$1.00 Exacta Box 4, 7, 9, 10
$.50 Trifecta Box 4, 7, 9, 10
#2 Miss Extra I don't like the post position, but she appears to be a good
horse. She was trapped on the inside the last race with nowhere to go. She
moved up slightly and then backed off to finish 9th. She again draws the inside
but a better trip with cover then move out should prove to have better results.
In her grade 2 win in France, she ran a straight mile at CHANTILLY beating a
good field. This is not a grade 2 field. The up-and-coming horse to watch in
this race is #8 Counterparty Risk a Chad Brown horse coming off a maiden win
with good works. Maybe at a price?
$20 to Win #2
$2 Exacta Box 2-3-8-9
This looks like the
best betting race of the three. #4 On Mars has collected a top three check in
every race on grass. #9 Warren's Showtime loves some Santa Anita with four wins
in five races. It's doubtful trainer Chad Brown travel across county with #8
Counterpart Risk making just her third start if Brown doesn't think she fits.
Unless he has family in southern California and is expensing it as a business
trip. #10 Annangel has shown early speed here and in Britain and could go all
Eric Carmen on the lead (All By Myself).
$10 Win #4 On Mars
