Fans that were ready to watch TIZ THE LAW in his four-year-old campaign were disappointed today to learn that the winner of the 2020 Belmont Stakes (G1) has been retired to Ashford Stud. TIZ THE LAW was retired upon veterinary advice due to severe bone bruising that could potentially cause a catastrophic injury.

Assistant trainer Robin Smullen said that he felt something was not quite right while she was galloping TIZ THE LAW on December 29th at Palm Meadows Training Center. Because of the issue, Barclay and Knowlton decided to have him x-rayed and found the issue. The x-rays revealed the bruising and the decision to retire him was made.

TIZ THE LAW is the son of CONSTITUTION and is the fourth New York-bred horse since FORESTER in 1882 to win the Belmont. He retires with a 6-1-1 record and earnings of $2,735,300.
