Gulfstream Park has confirmed that MATH WIZARD is a go and "doing good" in preparation for the Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1) on January 23rd.

MATH WIZARD moved up from the reserve list when defending champion MUCHO GUSTO was retired due to an injury. ANOTHERTWISTAFATE was the first reserve option, but is likely to stay committed to the Pegasus Turf.

MATH WIZARD won the 2019 Pennsylvania Derby (G1) at Parx but finished fourth in the December 12th Harlan's Holiday (G3) after a three month layoff. Trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. says, "If all goes well, he'll run in the Pegasus. He's doing good. Normally, when he comes off a layoff, it takes a race or two for him to come back to torder. We wanted to get him the race in the Harlan's Holiday. I feel like he's going to move forward off that race."

MATH WIZARD was a 31-1 upset in the Pennsylvania Derby, but has been winless in seven starts. The Harlan's Holiday, won by TAX in frontrunning fashion, is 1 1/16th-miles while the Pegasus is 1 1/8th.
