It was a nice sunny day at Gulfstream Park for the $100,000 Tropical Turf (G3T). The Race got a little more interesting yesterday when Chad Brown scratched the morning line favorite ANALYZE IT. They found a quarter-crack Friday morning, another bump in the road for the colt that was sidelined his entire 4-year-old season due to hoof problems. So then there were eight.

RIDE A COMET ended up being the 2-1 favorite and sat fourth in the field through the first half-mile. FROSTMOURNE set the pace running a :47.78 half mile. CASA CREED got ahead for a short lead at the eighth pole, but RIDE A COMET came on strong with a late bid to take the mile turf race on firm ground.

RIDE A COMET is owned by John Oxley and My Meadowview Farms and trained by Mark Casse. The Tropical Turf was his first start on the turf since the Del Mar Derby (G2T) in September 2018. He had a layoff of about 28 months and then made a start at Woodbine where he won an allowance optional claiming race on the synthetic Tapeta surface. Then he won again on the synthetic in the Kennedy Road Stakes (G2) on November 21st.

CASA CREED held on for second and FROSTMOURNE took third 2 ½ lengths back.
