In just his second start, the 99-1 longshot in the sixth race at Santa Anita keyed an all-time record 50 cent Trifecta payoff of $31,184.10 Saturday, January 9th.

JUST A COMMAND was ridden by Tiago Pereira and trained by Eric Kruljac. He finished a neck ahead of the 17-1 longshot, FUNKENSTEIN, who was a half-length ahead of the 7-2 BEN'S A GOALIE.

In his Losa Alamitos debut, JUST A COMMAND finished ninth 20 ½ lengths back in. "I was ready to send this horse to Turf Paradise," said Kruljac. "It just goes to show, you never really know."

The winning Trifecta numbers were 8-11-2. The payoff technically eclipsed Santa Anita's previous Trifecta record of $52,892.50, which was established on a one-dollar ticket on September 26, 2001.

JUST A COMMAND paid $201 to win on a two-dollar ticket. The 3-year-old colt is a California-bred colt by FOREST COMMAND, owned and bred by Four Quarters Corp.
