The booming voice of Gulfstream Park Peter Aiello (@AnnouncerPete) joins the show once again to talk this weekend's Sunshine Millions races at Gulfstream Park. Rich put Pete on the spot and like the pro he is, Pete makes it look easy.

The race day crew added a wrinkle to their selections this week. Along with picking their winners and suggested wagers, they choose which horse they believe will come in last. That should be fun.

Gulfstream Park Race 8: $75,000 Sunshine Filly and Mare Turf

Shawn:

Commentary:
Top pick #6 Sugar Fix - The most consistent and battle tested horse in the field, 7 victories in 14 lifetime starts on the turf. If it wasn't for the horse Queens Embrace, she might have 3 more victories as she has finished second to that horse 3 times in her career. Should be on or near the lead from the start.

Others to use:

#4 Sun Summers- Had a great 2020 winning 3 of the 5 races she was in. Gets the leading rider winning % wise in Irad Ortiz Jr. That can be a huge advantage here as a lot of the horses in here want to be near the speed or right off.

#2 Kelsey's Cross - One of the few dead closers in this race that could benefit if some of these horses get in a speed duel. I'm going to use this horse in exotics, not so much to win.

Last Place: #5 Lookinglikeaqueen

Wagers:
$20 win #6
$1 Trifecta 4,6/2,4,6/2,4,6

Terry:

Commentary:
#4 - Sun Summers is in top form and going for a hat trip trying to win a 3rd race in a row. She has a great jockey/trainer combination

#6 – Sugar Fix wins at nearly a 50% clip. She has plenty of class and has been running against classier horses.

#7 – Lovely Luvy loves the distance and track.

Last Place: #3 Ceci Valentina

Wagers:
$10 to Win #4
$1 Exacta Box- #4-6-7
$0.50 Trifecta 4-6-7 / 4-6-7 / 1-3-4-6-7-8

Thomas:

Commentary:
#6 Sugar Fix – Claimed by Joseph Saffie for 40k and then faced G3 types at Saratoga. Didn't win but did ok. Dropped down to A25K race and won nicely as the favorite at Kentucky Downs. Last race, finished second vs listed types in a 95k race at Gulfstream. Nicely spotted for this race vs Florida Breds.

Wagers:
$20 to Win #6

Rich:

Commentary:
#6 Sugar Fix missed as the chalk in her last with the top, last race speed figure for this group. She should show a little more today in her second start after a brief layoff and Saffie Joseph, Jr. rebounds at 33% with beaten favorites. She could be a single to start the Pick 3 and Pick 5. If not Sugar Fix, then it's Sun Summers (PP: 4 ML 7/2).

Last Place: #3 Ceci Valentina

Wagers:
$5 Exacta Box 4,6
$1 Trifecta 4,6/2,4.6.8/2,4,6,8

Gulfstream Park Race 9: $75,000 Sunshine Classic Stakes

Shawn:

Commentary:
Top pick #1 Noble Drama- The only horse in this race to race this distance more than once and the only one with a victory at this distance. The jockey Jaramillo has ridden this horse 5 times and never was out of the exacta. Should be enough speed in here for him to close. Defending champion of this race.

Others to use:

#2 Scar- Likes Gulfstream 5 out of 6 in exacta. Has speed and can use sit off. I think this race will go from an inside post and have a chance.

#4 Roman Empire- Biggest and toughest race of his young career. Seems to keep improving and in here with a shot.

Last Place: #7 Kaufy Bean

Wagers:
$20 Win #1
$1 Exacta Box 1,2,4

Terry:

Commentary:
# 4 - Roman Empire ran third last race and should run well here with a good jockey in the irons-(Saez).

#1- Noble Drama is having a good year running third last race while having trouble. He has great dirt speed ratings.

# 6- Red Crescent has plenty of experience and only need to repeat last race.

Last Place: #5 Quenane

Wagers:
$8 to win #4
$5 Exacta - #1 / 4-6
$1 Exacta Box- #1-4-6

Thomas:

Commentary:
#4 Roman Empire – Todd Pletcher appears to have this horse placed correctly. Never been 1 1/8 but breeding says no problem. Only one horse in this field has run 1 1/8. Sits off the pace, should have cover and will be within 4 lengths of the leader(s). I am not sure who will be on the lead. Lightly raced homebred is my choice.

Wagers:
$20 to Win #4
Exacta Box 4,5,6

Rich:

Commentary:
Another one that looks like a two-horse race between #1 Noble Drama and #4 Roman Empire. I'll nod towards the higher odds with #4 Roman Empire.

Wagers:
$5 Exacta Box 1,4
$1 Trifecta 1,4/1,2,3,4/1,2,3,4

Last Place: #5 Quenane

Gulfstream Park Race 10: $75,000 Sunshine Sprint Stakes

Shawn:

Commentary:
Top pick #2 With Verve- There is a lot of speed in this race which should set up perfectly for a closer like the #2. Gets a nice inside post and Paco Lopez should be able to work out a nice trip.

Others to use:

#5 Extravagant Kid- Returns to dirt after 7 straight races on the turf. Another one that will benefit from all the speed in this race. Battle tested has been in a lot of Grade 1 and 2 races.

#1 Old Time Revival- This may be the speed of the speed. From the inside post will have to go and if one horse gets away maybe it's this one.

Last Place: #8 Jackson

Wagers:
$20 win #2
$1 Exacta Box 1,2,5

Terry:

Commentary:
#5 - Extravagant Kid just missed last race while dropping in class and again runs in the same class. Today's distance is right in his wheelhouse finishing in the money 90% of the time while winning at a 50% clip at the distance.

#3 - Legal Deal has plenty of early speed and has a great jockey/trainer. He is winning 50% of his races this year.

#8 - Jackson has ran second the last two races and the shorter distance may help.

Last Place: #1 Old Time Revival

Wagers:
$8 to win #5
$5 Exacta - #5 / 3-8
$1 Exacta Box- #3-5-8

Thomas:

Commentary:
#5 Extravagant Kid – the favorite in this race and has faced much better horses in the past. He has been on the turf for the last 7 races at 5 or 5 ½ furlongs and done well. Won this race last year. There should enough speed in this race to setup him up for the win. Good effort out last time with some trouble at the start.

Wagers:
$20 Win #5
$1 Exacta Box 3,5,7,9

Rich:

Commentary:
Announcer Pete says #5 Extravagant Kid can win this one by any length he wants. I think he's highly likely to live up to the heavy favorite status. However, he's not a front runner and speed can play at the distance/surface. #3 Legal Deal could get to the lead and take them from end to end, which he has done in three of five at Gulfstream.

Last Place: #1 Old Time Revival

Wagers:
$5 Exacta Box 3,5
$1 Trifecta 3,5/3,5,6,7/3,5,6,7

Gulfstream Park Race 11: $75,000 Sunshine Turf Stakes

Shawn:

Commentary:
Top pick #9 Venezuelan Hug- Deep closer that should get the perfect set up in this race as there are multiple speed horses in this race. Loves the distance is a perfect 3 for 3. The outside post should be fine for a horse like this.

Others to use:

#4 Shamrocket- Another closer that should get the set up and be there at the end. Gets Irad Ortiz. Came off a 3 month break and won last race.

#6 Galleon Mast- Always there at the end has been in the money in 28 of 34 turf races. Another the race should set up for.

Last Place: #7 Max K.O

Wagers:
$20 win #9
$1 Exacta 4,9/4,6,9

Terry:

Commentary:
#4 Shamrocket has finished 100% of the time in the money during his career. Ortiz again rides Shamrocket, winning with him in their last race.

#3 – Monforte has won 5 out of 7 races this year and I think his last race can be thrown out.

#6 - Galleon Mast does well at Gulfstream and at this distance and has a great workout entering this race.

Last Place: #7 Max K.O

Wagers:
$8 to win #4
$5 Exacta - #4 / 3-6
$1 Exacta Box- #3-4-6

Thomas:

Commentary:
#9 Venezuelan Hug – there is a lot of speed in this race, so I am picking a closer. Claimed of 40k in March 2020 and has proven a useful horse at the list stakes level. Tried 2 Graded stakes races and showed northing. At this level, he can run fine. Good last out with a troubled but winning trip. I think the outside post helps. He is 3 for 3 at this distance and should close to win.

Wagers:
$20 Win #9
$1 Exacta Box 2,4,9

Rich:

Commentary:
This one is wide-open and as you can make a case for half the field, maybe more. I am going with #3 Monforte, #9 Venezuelan Hug, #4 Shamrocket and #5 Over the Channel.

Last Place: #7 Max K. O.

Wagers:
$1 Trifecta Box 3,4,5,9
