The $125K Fred W. Hooper Stakes (G3) was won by PERFORMER, ridden by jockey Joel Rosario for trainer Claude McGaushey III, for owner Phipps Stable and Claiborne Farm.


PERFORMER raced along the rail, three lengths behind front runner SHIVAREE, who set the early tempo of 23.98, 47.23. PERFORMER would then move to the outside into the clear, which allowed EYE OF THE JEDI to sneak up into the newly open slot. These two would find each other turning for home and into the stretch, dueling for the lead. PERFORMER ultimately gets the better of him and wins by a neck. EYE OF THE JEDI finished a game second, AVANT GARDE ran third. The final time for the one mile event was 1:35.49.


PERFORMER paid $3.80 to win, $3.00 to place, $2.40 to show.





The $125K Marshua's River Stakes (G3) was won by ZOFELLE with Tyler Gaffalione for trainer Brendan Walsh, for owner Heider Familly Stables LLC.


ZOFELLE raced in seventh for the first half of this one mile turf event. Tyler Gaffalione switches her into the clear, and catches up to the leaders by the top of the stretch. She then charges past the field under a full head of steam. SWEET BYE AND BYE ran second, BELLE LAURA third. Final time was 1:32.42.


ZOFELLE paid $7.60 to win, $4.40 to place, $3.20 to show.



The $125K La Prevoyante Stakes (G3) was won by ALWAYS SHOPPING ridden by Irad Ortiz Jr. for trainer Todd Pletcher, for owner Repole Stable


ALWAYS SHOPPING broke well but was content to be held back to race in third for ? of the race, while 70-1 pacesetter AUNT HATTIE set relatively quick early fractions of 23.39, 47.63. ALWAYS SHOPPING sweeps up three wide and seized the lead at the stretch, drawing off to win by three lengths. A dominant win. Final time for the 1 ½ mile on turf event was 2:25.38. 


The winner paid $4.00 to win, $3.00 to place, $2.60 to show.



The $200K Inside Information Stakes (G2) was won by a 16-1 longshot in PACIFIC GALE, ridden by jockey John Velazquez for trainer John Kimmel, for owner Tobey L. Morton. 


Bumped slightly at the break, PACIFIC GALE raced in fifth of the eight horse field, while the top two favorites CINNABUNNY and THISSMYTIME vied for the lead, setting fractions of 22:45, 45.13, 1:09.86. Approaching the turn for home PACIFIC GALE boxed in behind the leaders. She swung three wide in the stretch before powering past the field winning comfortably by three lengths. THISSMYTIME finished second, PIEDI BIANCHI third. The final time was 1:22.60.


PACIFIC GALE paid $34.20 to win, $10.00 to place, $6.60 to show.





The $150K W.L. McKnight Stakes (G3) was won by TIDE OF THE SEA ridden by Tyler Gaffalione for trainer Michael Maker, with owner Three Diamonds Farm.


TIDE OF THE SEA took the field gate to wire in this mile and half race, setting fractions of 24.00, 48.68, 1:12.57, 1:36.81. TEMPLE came within a head of the winner in the stretch before being turned away but held for second. DOSWELL was closing but had to settle for third. Final time was 2:24.57


TIDE OF THE SEA paid $10.00 to win, $6.00 to place, $3.60 to show.
