DRAIN THE CLOCK broke fast out of the gate, but conceded the lead to POPPY'S PRIDE, who would set the pace through fractions of 22.48, 45.27, and 1:10.27. DRAIN THE CLOCK keeps a stalking trip until there's only three furlongs left to run. He takes command and opens up five lengths on the field easily, widening before crossing the wire. There were no late threats. 35-1 shot KING'S OVATION ran on for second, with ULTIMATE BADGER third. The final time was 1:23.29.
