On Saturday February 6th, 2021, Aqueduct will feature the running of the Withers Stakes (G3). It's an East coast prep for three-year-olds on the Road to Kentucky Derby, which awards 10 points to the victor. The race is run at 1 ? miles for a purse of $250K.

The favorite projects to be the Harry Wyner trainee, CAPO KANE. He's a son of STREET SENSE out of a HARD SPUN mare TWIRL ME. He comes off an impressive victory in last month's Jerome Stakes, where he earned an Equibase Figure of 89. In that race he beat a rival he is likely to meet again here in EAGLE ORB. CAPO KANE has won two in a row and was piloted by Dylan Davis both times.

This Withers also looks to attract two Todd Pletcher trainees: OVERTOOK, the son of CURLIN, and DONEGAL BAY, the son of UNCLE MO. Both come off maiden special weight victories and trying stakes competition for the first time.

EAGLE ORB, if entered, will try to turn the tables on CAPO KANE, having lost to him in the Jerome Stakes while being more favored at 9-5 than CAPO KANE at 6-1. EAGLE ORB is trained by Rudy Rodriguez. He is the son of ORB out of LADY ON HOLIDAY by HARLAN'S HOLIDAY.

The rest of the probables are: SHACQUEENKING, ROYAL NUMBER, RISK TAKING.

The Withers, a historic stakes race, dating back to its first running in 1874 at Jerome Park. Be sure to tune in Saturday so you don't miss it! Consider that the Wood Memorial Stakes (G2) favorite may emerge from this field.
