We had an excellent stakes card at Aqueduct on Saturday. Kentucky Derby and Oaks points were awarded, stretch duels occurred and decided winners, and a 44 to 1 horse scored an upset win, blowing up the toteboard for the bettors. If you missed out, we've got the recap for you, starting with the main event of the card: The $300K Gotham Stakes (G3) was won by WEYBURN, ridden by Trevor McCarthy, trained by James Jerkins, owned by Chiefswood Stables Limited — in a 45-1 upset!

WEYBURN broke evenly with the field, but permitted FREEDOM FIGHTER to grab the lead and set opening fractions of 24.29 and 48.03. WEYBURN stayed in contention throughout, tracking in second place as they raced through the back stretch and into the turn. WEYBURN makes his move and takes command at the top of the stretch, but is immediately taken on by the Chad Brown-trainee, CROWDED TRADE. It looked as if CROWDED TRADE was going to charge right on by, but WEYBURN ran with him. In a gutsy display, WEYBURN battles on and recaptures the lead for the win. The final time for the one mile on the dirt was 1:38.70.

WEYBURN paid $95.50 to win, $26.80 to place, and $8.70 to show. He is by PIONEER OF THE NILE out of SUNDAY AFFAIR by A.P. INDY. Out of 4 starts he's won twice and finished second once. He pushes his earnings to $227,520. WEYBURN picks up 50 qualifying points for the Kentucky Derby, while earning his highest speed figure for his effort. Keep an eye out for this colt, for he may point to the Wood Memorial which his grandad EMPIRE MAKER won 2003.

The $250K Busher Invitational Stakes was won by SEARCH RESULTS, ridden by Javier Castellano, trained by Chad Brown, owned by Klaravich Stables Inc. — wearing down MISS BRAZIL in deep stretch.

SEARCH RESULTS broke smoothly and was positioned to rate in second place, half a length off of MISS BRAZIL who opened the quarter in 24.53 and the half in 49.64. They raced compact along the backside, no more than three lengths separating the field. Turning for home, SEARCH RESULTS engages MISS BRAZIL and these two hook up for a duel while the others are left behind. Although on the wrong lead, SEARCH RESULTS still finishes the strongest and wears down her rival to win by half a length. It's a break of four lengths back to THE GRASS IS BLUE in third. The final time was 1:39.75 for the one mile on the dirt.

SEARCH RESULTS paid $6.30 to win, $3.10 to place, and $2.60 to show. She's by FLATTER out of CO COLA by CANDY RIDE. She's 2-for-2 with earnings now pushed to $161,500. She earned her highest speed figure off this effort. She wins 50 qualifying points for her Road to the Kentucky Oaks. Keep an eye on this filly; we can expect her to thrive off the longer distances that await her promising racing career.

The $200K Tom Fool Handicap (G3) was won by CHATEAU, ridden by Kendick Carmouche, trained by Rob Atras, owned by Michael Dubb — in a run away victory.

CHATEAU broke out on top and made for the lead to set sharp opening fractions of 22.81 and 46.18. Yet he raced unpressured along the backside, able to control the tempo which left with plenty as they turned for home. CHATEAU kicked clear by as much as seven lengths with half a furlong left to go and had a large enough lead to secure the win. WENDELL FONG commenced his rally but was too late to reach the eventual winner. SPEED PASS ran on and kept third. They stopped the clock at 1:12.10 for the six furlongs on dirt.

CHATEAU paid $9.60 to win, $5.10 to place, and $3.40 to show. He is by FLAT OUT out of DISTINCT SPARKLE by WITH DISTINCTION. The 6-yr-old gelding has won 7 times, placed 9 times, and shown 8 times out of 33 career starts. He earned his highest speed figure to date, pushing his earnings to $477,769. His highest speed figures have all come from Aqueduct where he's never been off the board in 9 tries over the track.

The $125K Heavenly Prize Invitational Stakes was won by LAKE AVENUE, ridden by Manuel Franco, trained by William Mott, owned by Godolphin — in a commanding win.

LAKE AVENUE broke alertly and rated in fourth while PORTAL CREAK showed the way through opening fractions of 23.77 and 48.02. LAKE AVENUE raced relaxed along the backside until she was asked for run and she cruised toward the lead. She struck the front at the top of the stretch and drew off to win by more than six lengths, even geared down late. PORTAL CREEK could not go with the winner, settling for second. Two lengths back was FLASHDYNAMITE in third. The final time for the one mile on dirt was 1:39.25.

LAKE AVENUE paid $3.90 to win, $2.70 to place, and $2.50 to show. She is by TAPIT out of SEVENTH STREET by STREET CRY. This marks her 4th win from 9 starts; pushes her earnings to $319,787. She ran her second highest speed figure and is 3-for-4 racing at Aqueduct.
