GREATEST HONOUR is off the Derby trail following an ankle issue. He finished third in the Florida Derby (G1) and afterwards has been diagnosed with "stress remodeling." Trainer Shug McGaughey told Horse Racing Nation that this has led to the decision to give him a 60 day break, half at pasture and half under saddle.

Stress remodeling in horses is when the bone begins to reshape itself due to stress from exercise. It is a common situation but due to the bone changing and altering structure, to continue to race could cause severe injury.

McGaughey told Horse Racing Nation, "It's not anything we've got to operate on. He just needs a little bit of time. He's a little banged up, and we'll give him that. Hopefully we'll come back, and maybe we'll have him for Saratoga."

GREATEST HONOUR has a record of 3-1-3 out of 7 starts since his debut last September at Saratoga. He won the Holy Bull (G3) and the Fountain of Youth (G2).
