There's no denying that COVID shook things up for Texas horse racing and because of that, things are looking very different for racing there in 2021. The Texas Racing Commission approved a schedule for 2021 on September 29th in which Sam Houston and Lone Star will only have Thoroughbred meets. Retama Park will host only Quarter Horses.

Retama agrred to transfer some its Thoroughbred purse money and Sam Houston expanded its application resulting in receiving seven additional days. Sam Houston will run 46 days January 8th through April 3rd.

Lone Star Park will then run 42 days April 16th through July 18th. While Retama will run only Quarter Horses, Lone Star and Sam Houston will have sgort Quarter Horse meets.
