Trainer Chad Brown announced today that he will be entering RISK TAKING in the Preakness Stakes on May 15th. He will be scratched from the $200,000 Peter Pan Stakes (G3) Saturday at Belmont.
CROWDED TRADE will also be entered into the $1 million Preakness. Brown won the 2017 Preakness with CLOUD COMPUTING.
Brown stated that the discussion was lengthy with Klaravich Stables proprietor, Seth Klarman, but ultimately they feel that he is better around two turns and are willing to give up being the morning-line favorite in the Peter Pan. If he wins, the payoff is much more lucrative.
RISK TAKING'S last start was the Wood Memorial in which he finished seventh of nine. Prior to the Wood, he had only just broken his maiden in December 13th before he went on to win the Withers (G3) in early February.
Jose Ortiz has the ride on RISK TAKING, while Javier Castellano will ride CROWDED TRADE.
