The Preakness Card at Pimlico will be loaded with action. We've got ten stakes races worth a combined total of $2.25 million in purse money. The first race starts at 10:30 AM ET, and the headliner, the Preakness Stakes (G1), runs at 6:47 PM ET. Let's preview what's to come.

The $100K Sir Barton Stakes — 1 1/16 miles, Dirt. Three-year-olds. Post Time is 10:30 AM ET.

HOZIER from post position four is the 2-5 favorite from the Bob Baffert Barn. He'll be ridden by Joel Rosario, who was aboard for HOZIER's win two races back when he broke his maiden. The son of PIONEER OF THE NILE comes off a sixth place finish in the Arkansas  Derby (G1) and gets class relief here.

ROMP breaks from the fifth slot for trainer Claude McGaughey III. The son of ORB is 9-2 on the morning line, and seeks his third consecutive victory while stepping up in class. Jockey Jose Ortiz was aboard for his last two wins and will try to get him a third.

THE KING CHEEK is 5-1 for trainer Jamie Ness and will break from the rail. He'll step up in class while stretching out in distance. The son of LAOBAN comes off a win in an Optional Claiming race which he won by three lengths. Jockey Jamie Rodriguez, who is winning at a 14% rate this year, gets the call.

Rounding out the field are: GOLDEN GULLEY, MARKET CAP and DREAM BIG DREAMS

The $200K Chick Lang Stakes (G3) — 6 furlongs, Dirt. Three-year-olds. Post Time is 11:41 AM ET.

JAXON TRAVELER is the heavy morning-line favorite at 4-5 for trainer Steve Asmussen. The son of MUNNINGS has won 4 of 5 races, and exits a race where he posted his highest speed figure to date. Note that he broke his maiden at this Pimlico track by a winning margin of 10 lengths. Irad Ortiz Jr. is onboard for the first time.

WILLY BOI from the Jeff Engler barn will break from post six at odds of 3-1. The son of UNCAPTURED will be piloted by John Velazquez for the first time. He cuts back to six furlongs where he's undefeated in three tries.

HEMP is an interesting player at 15-1 for trainer Anthony Farrior. He'll break from post position four as he goes for his second consecutive victory. Last time we saw him he won by five lengths in an Optional Claiming 62K race at Laurel Park. He's never failed to hit the board in all four starts. Regular rider Jevian Toledo is back aboard.

Rounding out the field are: PALATIAL TIMES, MIGHTY MISCHIEF and SHACKLED LOVE.

The $150K Gallorette Stakes (G3) — 1 1/16 miles, Turf. Fillies And Mares, Three-year-olds and upward. Post Time is 1:28 PM ET.

MEAN MARY from post five is the heavy 6-5 morning-line favorite for trainer Graham Motion. The daughter of SCAT DADDY makes her long awaited return since her 7th place finish in last year's Breeder's Cup Filly and Mare Turf (G1). Regular rider Luis Saez is back onboard for the task. She's never been worse than second in 7 of 9 races.

FLIGHTY LADY is 4-1 from post position three. The daughter of SIR PERCY will make her second U.S. start for trainer Chad Brown. She was last seen winning an Allowance 82K race at Aqueduct over this one mile and one-sixteenth distance. She'll be stepping up in class with Irad Ortiz Jr. in the saddle.

VIGILANTES WAY will break from the rail for trainer Claude McGaughey III at odds of 5-1. The daughter of MEDAGLIA D'ORO has run twice at Pimlico and hit the board both times. She'll be making her second start off a layoff with Jose Ortiz to pilot her.

The $100K James W. Murphy Stakes — 1 mile, Turf. Three-year-olds. Post Time is 2:45 PM ET.

OUTADORE from the two-hole is the 7-5 morning-line favorite for trainer Wesley Ward. We last saw the son of OUTWORK capture the Animal Kingdom Stakes at Turfway Park almost six weeks ago. He returns to the turf where he's 2 for 3, and where he earned his highest speed figure to date. Irad Ortiz Jr. will ride him for the first time.

ARZAK from the six-hole is an interesting competitor at odds of 6-1. The $575K purchased son of NOT THIS TIME returns to the turf where he's earned his highest speed figure. He was last seen running in the Animal Kingdom Stakes almost six weeks back, where he finished fourth as one of the favorites at odds of $3.70 to win. Daniel Centeno will ride him for the first time.

KASIM from post three is 8-1 for trainer Michael Maker. He has never ran this far, but that's alright; Michael Maker has a decent win % with first time routers. The son of MUNNINGS will try to redeem his sixth place finish last time out in the William Walker Stakes with jockey Luis Saez onboard.

FRENCH EMPIRE is 3-1 from post position eight. She makes her first start for trainer Brad Cox after winning four in a row for previous trainer Cipriano Contreras. The daughter of STREET SENSE earned her highest speed figure last time out and will have Javier Castellano in the irons.

DONTLETSWEETFOOLYA is 6-1 on the morning-line from post six. She'll make her first start in more than two months for trainer Lacey Gaudet. The daughter of STAY THIRSTY won five races in a row before finishing seventh last time out in the Barbara Fritchie Stakes. To her credit, she already owns a win over this exact trip (Surface, Distance, Track) back in October 2020. Regular rider Jevian Toledo is back for the task.

The $100K Jim McKay Turf Sprint Stakes — 5 furlongs, Turf. Three-year-olds and upward. Post Time is 4:05 PM ET.

THE CRITICAL WAY from post position four is the 5-2 favorite for trainer Jose Delgado. The son of TIZWAY has hit the board on all six of his last starts. He enters off a third place effort in the tougher Shakertown Stakes (G2) back in April. Note his 4F bullet work on May 9th, going :47.4 as the fastest of 28 works at that distance. Luis Saez is back onboard.

COMPLETED PASS from the outside post position thirteen has the morning-line odds of 7-2 for trainer Claudio Gonzalez. We last saw him winning the King T. Leatherbury Stakes over this Pimlico track on April 24th. In 3 starts at Pimlico he's got 2 wins and 1 second. Regular rider Angel Cruz is back onboard.

FIRECROW from the eleventh slot is an intriguing player at odds of 10-1 for trainer Ron Moquett. He figures to be the pacesetter and has the perfect rider for that task, Joel Rosario, who wins with frontrunners at an impressive rate. The son of MACLEAN'S MUSIC has been competing at a high level on dirt but will switch back to turf.

Rounding out the field are: BOLDOR, THE CONNECTOR, GRAB THE GOLD, HOLLIS, JAMMER, DUBINI, LOVE YOU MUCH, ROBEY'S BOY, PUSH TO START and SO STREET.

STRIKE POWER from the fifth-slot at odds of 7-2 is a major presence from the Steve Asmussen barn. He was last seen in the Count Fleet Sprint Handicap (G3), where he ran into two of the country's top sprinters (CZ ROCKET and WHITMORE) and finished fourth. He'll try again at this level but with Ricardo Santana Jr. back onboard this time.

BREEZY GUST at 6-1 for trainer Daniel Velazquez is an interesting competitor. He strung together four consecutive wins before finishing third last time out in the Page McKenney Handicap. He figures to be one of the frontrunners and will break from post seven with jockey Joel Rosario onboard.

SPECIAL RESERVE for trainer Michael Maker will break from post eight at odds of 9-2. The son of MIDSHIPMAN put together two wins in a row before stepping up in class for the first time in the Commonwealth Stakes (G2), and finishing second to the super talented FLAGSTAFF. Irad Ortiz Jr. picks up the mount.

SACRED LIFE is the 7-5 favorite from post position five. He'll represent the Chad Brown barn as he seeks his first graded stakes win, in what will be his second start off a layoff. The son of SIYOUNI was only two and a half lengths shy of winning the Maker's Mile (G1) last time out. Javier Castellano returns for the task.

SOMELIKEITHOTBROWN for trainer Michael Maker is 4-1 on the morning line. He'll break from the rail as he attempts to redeem two consecutive off-the-board finishes. To his credit, the son of BIG BROWN competed in this very stakes race last year and finished a solid second, while earning his highest speed figure into the bargain. Jose Ortiz picks back up the mount.

KURAMATA is the second Chad Brown entrant from the third slot at 6-1. Since arriving in the U.S. he's put together two consecutive wins. The son of AUSTRALIA will step up in class here with Irad Ortiz Jr. in the saddle.

Rounding out the field are: ENGLISH BEE, MIDNIGHT TEA TIME, TALK OR LISTEN, FLYING SCOTSMAN and BYE BYE MELVIN.

The $1,000,000 Preakness Stakes (G1) — 1 3/16 miles, Dirt. Three-year-olds. Post Time is 6:47 PM ET.

MEDINA SPIRIT from the third slot is the 9-5 morning line favorite for trainer Bob Baffert. John Velazquez rode him to victory in the Kentucky Derby and is back for the second leg of the Triple Crown. The son of PROTANICO has the fastest early speed and is proven tough to run past in the stretch.

MIDNIGHT BOURBON is 5-1 on the morning-line for trainer Steve Asmussen. He finished sixth in the Kentucky Derby despite a rough trip. The son of TIZNOW has got the early speed to run with the above favorite early on. Irad Ortiz Jr. takes the mount.

RISK TAKING from the ninth slot at 15-1 is an interesting player for trainer Chad Brown. He was the betting favorite to win the Wood Memorial Stakes (G1) but finished  a disappointing seventh. The son of MEDAGLIA D'ORO skipped the Kentucky Derby and has been training well for his Preakness Stakes run.

RB RICH LYKE ME is the 7-2 second choice from post position eight. He'll represent the Scott Lake barn with jockey Carol Cedeno aboard. The son of MAJD AL ARAB has hit the board in 14 of 15 lifetime starts. Last time we saw him was in the Darley Sprint Stakes where he achieved his highest speed figure to date.

UPTOWN SANDY GIRL is the 4-1 third choice from the third slot. Trainer Ashby Lynn sends the daughter of BURNING SAND to take on the boys with jockey J.D. Acosta onboard. She's won two in a row but will be stepping up in class for this assignment.
