MEDINA SPIRIT, CONCERT TOUR and BEAUTIFUL GIFT have passed an initial round of pre-race testing for this weekend's Black-Eyed Susan Stakes (G2) and Saturda's Preakness Stakes (G1). The initial samples were collected on May 6th by the Maryland Racing Commission. The tests were part of a required set of conditions for the entry of the horses following MEDINA SPIRITS failed Kentucky Derby post-race test for the anti-inflammatory betamethasone.
Another set of samples were collected by the Marland Racing Commission on May 10th and a third was be taken by 1/ST Racing and Maryland Jockey Club on May 11th. The first two samples were sent to Industrial Laboratories in Colorado and the May 11th tests will be sent to the Universaity of California at Davis Maddy Laboratory.
The May 6th samples were tested for both prohibited and therapeutic substances and were reported clear. The results for the May 10th and 11th samples will be announced publicly today. They are anticipated to be received mid-afternoon. The Black-Eyed Susan has a scheduled post time of 5:44 PM EST today.
