The 147th Kentucky Derby winner MEDINA SPIRIT has taken and passed all three drug tests and has been declared eligible to race by The Stronach Group (track owner) and The Maryland Jockey Club. The announcement came shortly after 3 PM ET.
The same is true with stablemates CONCERT TOUR and BEAUTIFUL GIFT, who were subject to the same requirements to compete in their respective races. Both passed all three tests and were confirmed in the same announcement.
"Consistent with the fair procedures and practices established by (TSG) and MJC, the additional tests and monitoring were conducted as part of the rigorous condition of entry agreement to ensure the fairness and integrity of the races with horses entered by Baffert," the joint statement said.
BEAUTIFUL GIFT will compete as the favorite in the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes (G2). CONCERT TOUR will compete as the second favorite in Saturday's Preakness Stakes (G1) alongside morning-line favorite MEDINA SPIRIT.
Samples were drawn last Monday, Thursday, and most recently Tuesday. The results were sent to Maddy Laboratory at the University of California Davis before they were confirmed.
