While we were all fixated on the Preakness this weekend, there was a lot of great racing happening at Belmont as well. The Joe Hearst Hearst classic is a mile and a half raise run on Belmont. The race is typically held in September, but with COVID, it was ran this past weekend. It is a "Win and You're In" event for the Breeders' Cup Turf.

CHANNEL MAKER made his fourth appearance in the race for $250,000. It is a great one turf race. The six-year-old gelding son of ENGLISH TRAINER trained y Bill Mott won the classic in 2018. He finished second in the race last year the ARKLOW. He was ready this year, however as hie spring to the early lead. He was joined by CROSS BORDER on the outside. They both ran comfortably but CHANNEL MAKER never relinquish his lead with fractions of :22.89 and :49.44. The gelding one by 2 1/4 length margin over LACCARIO. Another half length back in third place was SADLER'S JOY.
