With no chance at a Triple Crown this year, the field for the Belmont is a bit smaller than usual. With only an eight horse field, post position doesn't play as much of a role in this jewel as it does in the others. This is the smallest field for the Belmont since AMERICAN PHAROAH took the Triple Crown in 2015.

BOURBONIC has drawn the first post for trainer Todd Pletcher. At 15-1, he's not the longest shot in the race and Pletcher is happy with the way he's been training and hoping for a ground-saving trip for the colt. Kendrick Caramouche will be in the irons.

ESSENTIAL QUALITY (2-1) drew the second post and is the favorite at 5-2 for trainer Brad Cox. His only loss is the Derby in which he placed fourth behind MEDIN SPIRIT by a length. Cox is hoping for an uneventful break and believes jockey Luis Saez will guide him well.

ROMBAUER (3-1) has drawn post 3 and is the second choice after his Preakness win. He will by ridden by Johnny Velazquez.

HOT ROD CHARLIE (7-2) is in the 4 post at 7-2. Trainer Doug O'Neill believes his horse will handle the distance well. He is confident in jockey Flavien Prat as well.

FRANCE GO DE INA (30-1) is in the 5th post and the longest shot on the board. He will have jockey Ricardo Santana Jr. aboard. It is expected that the Japanese contender will set the pace.

KNOWN AGENDA (6-1) is in the 6th post and leads the trio of Pletcher horses. Pletcher has won the Belmont three times. He is happy with his horse and says that everything is going according to plan. Irad Ortiz Jr. will be aboard.

ROCK YOUR WORLD (9-2) drew the 7th post for trainer John Sadler who was pleased with the draw. ROCK YOUR WORLD took a hard hit in the Derby and was expected to be a big contender on Derby Day. With a smaller field, the break should not be as eventful and could allow the colt to get to the lead and perform like he did in the Santa Anita Derby. Joel Rosario has the ride.

OVERTOOK (20-1) drew the 8th post and is 20-1 for Pletcher. Pletcher hopes that the pace will be a little slower, ideally a 48 second half. Manny Franco will be aboard OVERTOOK, whose last start was the Grade 3 Peter Pan.

REBEL'S ROMANCE was withdrawn prior to the Post Draw due to a hind leg infection.
