Despite an off start, STREET LUTE broke from the outside post and and gamely won the $100,000 Stormy Blues Stakes at Pimlico yesterday.,

Jockey Xavier Perez wore the Lucky 7 silks of owner Joey Llyod and covered the five furlong distance in :58. She improved her record to 7 stakes wins and eighth career win from 11 starts.

The Stormy Blues Stakes is for 3-year-old fillies.

PROPER ATTIRE set the pace in the race with MALIBU BEAUTY in pursuit. Entering the turn, Perez asked STREET LUTE for more and she responded by driving down the center of the stretch to pass MALIBU BEAUTY and PROPER ATTIRE for the win.

After the rough start, Lloyd thought his filly was out of it. "But when I saw her coming down the final homestretch I knew she has the heart, bigger than this world," he said.
