You know your parents must be fans of horse racing if they give you the name "Derbe Glass" and you know that's a name you've got to own up to and become a jockey with. It's only fitting. That's exactly what the 23-year-old rider did.

On Friday, July 2nd, she rode her mount, I SEA THE STARS, to victory in the sixth race at Monmouth Park. It wsa her 13th career start and she split horses in the midstretch, guiding her horse to victory by a neck.

"I'm just very happy. It's a combination of exhilaration and relief," she said. Glass is a Wilmington, Delaware native and is her first full year of riding as a professional jockey. She now has three seconds, two thirds and a winner.
