In North Randall, Ohio, a few miles southwest of Cleveland, is the Thimbledown Racino Thoroughbred racetrack. This one-mile dirt track is home to the Grade III Ohio Derby. This is the only graded race in Ohio.
Thistledown participates in the unusual "Ohio 7/7 Program," under which it hosts seven daily races alternating race post times with another Ohio track, either Belterra Park (formerly River Downs) or Beulah Park, which also holds seven races.
Thistledowns Racino is part of Jack Entertainment. In addition to its live racing program, the track also features a full simulcast schedule of OTB (off-track betting) races. It has a large gaming area adjacent to the Grandstand that features 1400 VLT gaming machines, and the gaming facility holds a number of special promotions, including features for senior adults and a VLT tournament. The complex also has special event areas and two lounges. There are three restaurants in the racing complex for hunger customers, including a scratch cooking grill, homemade pasta, and a hamburger bar. Private groups and special events can be chartered by contacting the track's website.
